Crafting Garden is a project by Mathilda Dahlquist and Sara Larsson in collaboration with the organization Visionsgruppen of Råshult. The project has its starting point at the place where Carl von Linné once was born, Råshult, in a course about the meeting of the rural and urban in Småland.

We started with a common aim- to get more people to visit Råshult to take part in the fantastic nature and cultural history there. We considered mainly two subjects, nature and craft, that historically is a big part of Småland. The project was a response to the limitations of engaging hands-on with vegetation, plants, and flowers at the site Råshult, due to that the area is nature reserves.

 

We proposed a crafting garden in one of the recently bought barns in which children, in particular, could strengthen their relationship to nature and increase their respect for it, by digging into the soil and physically experience the materiality of the place and its natureculture.
